First thing in the morning, a prayer

based on Asheritah Ciuciu’s article “A Prayer for First Thing in the Morning.”

Lord, good morning!
I’m grateful for a fresh day. We are grateful for how often You are moved by compassion. O Lord, how great are Your faithfulness and unwavering love!
You know more about today’s events and how much work I’ll get done than I do.
So I dedicate today to You.

Father, fill me with Your Holy Spirit. You know how worn out these bones are, so please energize me for Your mission. Quicken my spirit to the truth of Your work in my life, and awaken me to the marvel of Your salvation.
Lord, my head is full of original thoughts, but they are all mixed up. Please send the Holy Spirit to hover over my thoughts like You did over the waters during creation and bring order out of the chaos. Help me stop trying and have faith that You will provide everything I need today to complete the task You have given me.

As I start my day, I assert Your authority over every aspect of my life, knowing that You will be obedient to finish the wonderful work You’ve begun. I give myself over to You, and I beg You to use me as You see fit.
It’s Your day today. You own my body. You own my thoughts. You own everything that I am.

I hope You are happy with me today.
