The Christian Post reports that archaeologists in northern Italy have identified the likely site of an early Christian church that St. Jerome described in a letter in A.D. 396. Nearby they found a building believed to have been the bishop's palace in the ancient city of Altino. "For the first time, we can say with a very high degree of confidence where the church and the bishop's palace of Altino stood," excavation director Diego Calaon of Ca' Foscari University said in a translated statement. Written sources said the buildings must have existed, he added, and now the archaeology supports them. The household of God, built on the apostles and prophets with Christ as the cornerstone, never goes missing.
