1. Constantly Compare Yourself to Others
One of the quickest routes to unhappiness is to compare yourself to others. Social media exacerbates this tendency by showcasing only the highlights of others’ lives, making it easy to feel inadequate. The Bible warns against this in 2 Corinthians 10:12, "When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise." Instead of comparing, focus on your own journey and celebrate your unique strengths and achievements.

Harboring resentment and refusing to forgive can poison your heart and mind. Ephesians 4:31-32 instructs us to "get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger... Ecclesiastes 5:10 says, "Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income." Humans are inherently social beings, and isolation can lead to loneliness and depression. Proverbs 18:1 warns, "A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; he rages against all wise judgment." Constantly dwelling on negative thoughts and experiences can cloud your perspective and diminish your happiness.
