Discerning God's Purpose in Your Ambitions

As a child, I had countless dreams of becoming everything from a magician to a lion tamer. These ambitions, though whimsical, were stepping stones toward discovering God's true purpose for my life. The crucial question remains: "How do we know if our dreams align with God's will?"

1. Does It Bring Glory to God?

God's purpose is rooted in glorifying Him. Dreams that skirt ethical boundaries or contradict His teachings aren't from Him. Romans 11:36 reminds us, "For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory."

2. Does It Benefit Others?

God's heart beats for people. Our ambitions should uplift and help others, not exploit them. Isaiah 1:17 urges us, "Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows." A dream that benefits others aligns with God's plan.

3. Is It Beyond Your Capacity?

God-given dreams often exceed our abilities, pushing us to rely on His strength. Ephesians 3:20 declares, "Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think."

Reflect on your current ambitions. Do they meet these criteria? If they do, it may be a sign that God is calling you to pursue them. Embrace these God-sized dreams, as they are powerful and significant.
