Jesus Christ Is Fully God and Fully Man

When we think of Jesus Christ, our minds often gravitate toward His divinity His miracles, His teachings, His resurrection. Hebrews 2:17 emphasizes this truth: "For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way..." This verse underscores that Jesus didn't just appear human; He truly became one of us, sharing in our experiences, emotions, and struggles.

Experiencing Life as We Do

Jesus' humanity meant He experienced hunger, thirst, fatigue, and pain. He felt joy, sorrow, anger, and compassion. He faced temptation and suffering. These experiences weren't mere simulations; they were real. For instance, Jesus wept at Lazarus' tomb (John 11:35), showing genuine grief. He expressed compassion for the crowds (Matthew 9:36) and felt anguish in Gethsemane (Matthew 26:38).

Understanding Jesus' humanity is crucial because it means He can truly empathize with us. Hebrews 4:15 tells us, "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses..." His experiences equip Him to be our compassionate advocate before the Father.

Moreover, His human life serves as a model for us. He demonstrated how to live in obedience to God, how to love others, and how to endure suffering with faith. His life provides a blueprint for our own.

The Ongoing Significance

Even after His resurrection, Jesus retained His humanity. He showed His disciples His wounds and ate with them (Luke 24:39-43), affirming His bodily resurrection. This continuity assures us that He remains our empathetic intercessor.

Embracing the Fullness of Jesus

Recognizing both the divinity and humanity of Jesus enriches our faith. It assures us that He understands our struggles and walks with us through them. As we navigate life's challenges, we can find solace in knowing that our Savior truly knows what it's like to be human.
