Are You Truly Making Time for God?

Evaluating Our Priorities in the Busyness of Life.

In our fast-paced lives, many Christians struggle with finding time for God, often excusing themselves as "too busy." However, the problem often lies not in our schedules but in our heart posture. We find time for what truly matters to us—be it social media, TV, or other pursuits—yet often relegate our relationship with Jesus to the "fit it in when you can" category.

The average American spends 705 hours a year on social media and nearly 3,000 hours watching TV. These numbers starkly contrast with the minimal time many of us spend in prayer or Bible study. If we were to examine how we spend our time daily, it might reveal where our true priorities lie.

The issue isn’t that we don’t have time for God; it’s that we aren’t prioritizing Him. Imagine only giving your best friend five minutes of conversation a day—this wouldn’t reflect a deep or meaningful relationship. Similarly, giving God the leftovers of our time reduces our ability to grow in faith and intimacy with Him.

This isn’t just about adding more time with God but about shifting our posture and priorities. Consider keeping a time log to see where your time goes, asking God to reveal what you may be valuing more than Him, and making practical changes to align your life with your desire to prioritize Christ.

Living counter-culturally for Jesus requires intentional sacrifice and discipline. Aligning our daily habits with our faith doesn’t just happen—it takes effort and a heart truly devoted to God. As we seek to give Him more than just five minutes, we’ll discover the fullness of life that comes from dwelling in His presence.
