Online Bibles Do Not Mean Everyone Can Read One

More than 500 million Christians worldwide face restrictions on getting a Bible, the Bible Access Initiative said in a report released October 1 through Religion News Service's press-release service and covered by Baptist Press. The study looked at 106 nations. Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, North Korea and Eritrea fill the first five places on its restrictions list. The report separates restriction, where persecution makes owning a Bible risky, from shortage, where believers want a Bible and have none. For readers with a Bible app on their phone, the warning is simple: Scripture posted online does not mean every believer can safely open it. Pray today for those who read God's Word at a cost.
