You Have Been Loved with a Love Beyond Comprehension
What if your sleepless nights are really invitations to trust the One who never sleeps?

What makes you feel loved?
A compliment? A thoughtful gift? An encouraging word? While these gestures can warm the heart, they are mere shadows compared to the blazing reality of God’s love. And yet, for many believers, even those who’ve walked with Christ for years, the question “How greatly am I loved?” can still haunt the soul.
It’s not a trivial question it’s one that cuts to the very core of our identity and worship. Do you know truly know how deeply, deliberately, and personally God loves you?
In 1 Corinthians 1:26–31, the apostle Paul gives us an answer so profound, it ought to stop us in our tracks. Through four specific acts, God reveals not just that He loves you but how much, and why.
Why Does God Love You This Way?
Before we unpack how God loves, Paul gives us the why. And it may surprise you.
1. To Eliminate Boasting in Self
Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 1:29, “So that no human being might boast in the presence of God.”
One of the greatest enemies of joy is pride the belief that we’ve earned God's favor, that we’re worthy of His love. But God’s love is not performance-based. He didn’t choose you because you were clever, strong, or morally impressive. In fact, He chose you despite your weakness, so that you would never stand before Him and say, “I did this.”
He loves you in a way that kills self-glory and that’s not harsh; it’s holy. Because the only love that truly satisfies is the love that’s not dependent on your merit, but on His mercy.
2. To Promote Boasting in God
Verse 31 adds, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
God loves us in such a way that our hearts will forever burst, not with pride in ourselves, but with praise for Him. We’ll boast not in our strength, but in His grace; not in our wisdom, but in His mercy. True love lifts the soul to adore its source.
This is the purpose of God’s love: to replace self-exaltation with joyful worship. And the more we understand how He loves us, the more our lives will erupt in praise.
How Does God Love You?
Paul doesn’t leave us guessing. In just a few verses, he outlines four powerful ways God has loved you not vaguely, not generically, but personally and precisely.
1. God Chose You
“God chose what is foolish in the world… what is weak… what is low and despised…” (1 Corinthians 1:27–28)
You were chosen not randomly, but intentionally. And not because of your strength, but in full view of your weakness. If you belong to Christ, it’s because God set His affection on you before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4).
That means you didn’t earn this love. You didn’t earn your way into His favor. He chose you freely, mercifully, and eternally. This is what theologians call electing grace. It’s the kind of love that says: “I know everything about you and I want you anyway.”
2. God Called You
Paul says, “Consider your calling…” (1 Corinthians 1:26)
This isn’t your career or role in life. This is the effectual call of God that awakens the dead heart. It’s the divine voice that doesn’t just invite, but transforms. It’s not like a dinner invitation you can accept or decline it’s like the call Jesus gave to Lazarus “Come out!” (John 11:43). And the dead man came to life.
If you have seen Christ as beautiful, compelling, and true if you’ve embraced Him as Savior and Treasure it’s because God called you. Not because you were smarter or more spiritual, but because you were greatly loved.
3. God United You to Christ
Paul continues, “You are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption.” (1 Corinthians 1:30)
God not only chose and called you He placed you in Christ. That’s your new address. Your identity is now inseparably tied to Jesus. You’re not just forgiven you’re fused to the Son of God.
In Christ, you’re wise even if the world calls you a fool. You’re righteous not because of your record, but because of His. You’re being sanctified daily, gradually, sometimes painfully. And you’re redeemed bought back from the grip of sin and death.
This is not poetic language. It’s spiritual reality. You are in Christ and that is the greatest place to be.
4. God Made Christ Everything You Need
Christ didn’t just save you from wrath. He became everything your soul was made to crave:
Wisdom for your confusion
Righteousness for your guilt
Sanctification for your struggle
Redemption for your bondage
God didn’t merely give you a second chance. He gave you His Son. Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places is in Him (Ephesians 1:3).
If you ever wonder how much God loves you, remember this: He gave you Jesus. Not just as an example or teacher, but as your life, your covering, your hope, your everything.
This Love Changes Everything
If you truly believe this that God chose you, called you, united you to Christ, and gave you all you need in Him it will change the way you wake up tomorrow.
It will silence shame. It will crush pride. It will ignite worship. It will deepen your love for others. And it will remind you that your worth is not in what you do, but in who you are in Christ.
Yes, God makes much of you but not so you’ll make much of yourself. He makes much of you so that you’ll make much of Him. That’s the joy of being deeply, undeservedly, and eternally loved.
