You Are Meant to Be Breathtaking

Why God Clothes Us in Glory.

In the grand narrative of Scripture, a profound transformation awaits believers a metamorphosis into a glory that mirrors the divine. This future reality not only offers hope but also deepens our understanding of God's redemptive plan.

The Anticipation of Glory

The Apostle Paul speaks of a future unveiling, where the children of God will be revealed in their glorified state. He writes, "For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God" (Romans 8:19). This anticipation underscores the significance of the transformation that believers will undergo a change so profound that all of creation eagerly awaits it.

Transformation into Christ's Likeness

This forthcoming glory involves being conformed to the image of Christ. Paul elaborates, "And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another" (2 Corinthians 3:18). This transformation is both a present process and a future promise, culminating in believers reflecting the very character and radiance of Christ.

The Necessity of Glorification

To fully experience the joy and presence of God, believers must be glorified. As John Piper aptly illustrates, "You can’t fit the volcano of God’s joy in the teacup of my unglorified soul." Our current state is inadequate to contain the fullness of divine joy; thus, God prepares us through glorification to fully partake in His eternal happiness.

The Process of Glorification

This transformation involves a complete renewal our perishable bodies becoming imperishable, and our mortal selves clothed in immortality. Paul describes this change: "What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory" (1 Corinthians 15:42–43). This metamorphosis ensures that we are fit to dwell in the presence of God eternally.

The Ultimate Purpose

God's act of clothing us in glory serves a higher purpose: to magnify His own glory. By transforming us, He displays the richness of His grace and the magnificence of His redemptive work. As we are glorified, we become eternal testimonies to God's infinite love, wisdom, and power.

Conclusion

The promise that "you will be breathtaking" is not merely about personal exaltation but about participating in the divine narrative that showcases God's glory. As we anticipate this transformation, let us live in a manner worthy of our calling, reflecting the hope and assurance of the glory to come.
